At SunCoast Blood Centers, every drop makes a difference – and that’s true not only for the blood and platelets our incredible donors give but also for how we treat the world around us.
We are excited to share a simple but meaningful step we’re taking toward a greener future: encouraging both our donors and staff to bring their own reusable water bottles or cups when visiting our centers.
Why Are We Asking for Reusable Containers?
- A Healthier Planet
Every disposable cup used in our centers creates plastic waste. Over time, these plastics can break down into harmful microplastics that affect our environment, wildlife, and even our own health. Choosing a reusable container reduces this impact significantly. - Cleaner, Better Hydration
Hydration is essential before, during, and after donating blood. Using your own clean water bottle or cup means you’ll always have the container you prefer, filled with fresh, filtered water right here in our centers. Our water stations are available for safe and easy refills. - A Commitment to Sustainability
As a community-centered organization, we want to lead by example. By moving away from single-use plastic cups, we’re aligning with our mission to serve others — not only through blood donation but also by caring for the community’s future. - Part of a Growing Movement
More and more workplaces, schools, and nonprofits are embracing eco-friendly practices every day. This is one small way we can reduce waste without reducing care.
How You Can Help
Next time you come in to donate, bring your favorite reusable water bottle, tumbler, or mug. Before and after your donation, you can stay hydrated at our water stations while helping us eliminate unnecessary plastic waste.
A Team Effort
Our staff has already been enjoying the switch to reusables, and we’d love for you to join us. Together, the simple act of refilling can make a lasting positive change for our community and our planet.
Thank you for donating and for helping SunCoast Blood Centers stay both lifesaving and environmentally responsible. One bottle, one drop, one life at a time.
