In June 2018 Karissa was diagnosed with Triple Positive breast cancer. Her doctors attacked this very aggressive form of cancer with a 4-drug chemotherapy regimen before undergoing a mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. Following her surgery, Karissa experienced a small-vessel hemorrhage and required 3 units of blood. Karissa is doing well and her family is grateful to the doctors AND blood donors for giving Karissa the precious gift of life.

Karissa required multiple blood transfusions while battling breast cancer. Up to 50% of the blood products you donate are used to treat cancer patients. Thanks to you her young family has a bright future ahead of them.
