SunCoast Blood Centers is your local nonprofit providing safe, high-quality blood products to hospitals and patients across Southwest Florida since 1949.

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1949, the Lower West Coast Blood Bank was founded, planting the seeds of a community-driven mission rooted in compassion, generosity, and lifesaving care. From that first day, neighbors came together to help neighbors—donating blood to ensure no patient would go without in times of need. Over the decades, what began as a small effort has grown into SunCoast Blood Centers, a trusted source of hope and healing, dedicated to serving the people of Southwest Florida with unwavering commitment and heart.

YOU! Our mission is to serve YOU — the individuals, families, U.S. military servicemen and women, and others who comprise our beautiful community. We achieve this by ensuring a safe and adequate supply of blood products, including pathogen-reduced platelets, as well as providing services for the local healthcare facilities that our community relies on every day to save lives.
