Blood Mobile Driver – Entry-Level Phlebotomist

As a Driver / Entry-Level Phlebotomist, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive our iconic Teal Blood Mobile, transport lifesaving blood collection teams to community blood drives, and train to become a professional phlebotomist.

No phlebotomy experience? No problem! We provide a comprehensive training program and will teach you everything you need to know to become a skilled member of our Donor Services team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in phlebotomy, medical field, customer service, or an equivalent field preferred.
• No prior phlebotomy experience required; comprehensive training is provided.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong verbal communication skills, including person-to-person and phone interactions.
• Ability to manage stress and make decisions under pressure.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic data entry and record-keeping.
• Problem-solving and reasoning skills.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required.

JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet and register donors and patients.
• Determine donor eligibility based on established guidelines.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures for whole blood collection.
• Provide post-donation care and instructions, including management of adverse reactions.
• Ensure proper storage of blood and prepare units for transport.
• Conduct routine quality control, maintenance, and validation of equipment.
• Report equipment malfunctions or deviations to the crew chief.
• Monitor inventory levels and report supply needs.
• Meet established collection goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Participate in safety training and compliance activities.
• Perform other related duties as necessary to support Suncoast Blood Centers’ mission and vision.
